Little break over now
Well, I took a little break from blogging, but I'm back now! Been a long week, so far been a good weekend though. Just a lot on my mind, but I'm here now!
Cards have been struggling lately, but I just wanted to remind everyone who starts worrying that so far the opening day lineup has not played day in and day out during Spring Training. Albert has sat a lot, and obviously there are a lot of prospects pitching and playing. It may still be a bad season, but guys, look at it this way: this is Major League Baseball. The guys that get to play may not be superstars and they may mess up, but they are professional ballplayers, and under Tony La Russa, they have a chance to win any given game. They will play a hard nine, and that's all I ask for.
With that being said, my dark horse candidate for CF is now Colby Rasmus. I think he has a legit shot, he's been playing very well so far. That would push Rick Ankiel back to right field with a lot of good bench players for the outfield. Duncan still has LF down for himself.
Who knows, but I really like Rasmus's chances to land in the everyday lineup this year.
Another point was brought up by Hogtropolis at the Hogville.net forums.
He mentioned how if Pujols goes down and Rasmus isn't already on the squad that he would likely get the call-up with Duncan moving to 1b. It's an intriguing possibility. Of course, I hope that doesn't play out. Losing Pujols = end of season in all likelihood.
